Who can apply to Hira?

Youth ages 15-19 are recommended to apply for the retreat. In some cases, we may make exceptions. Please email hira@myna.org for more information.


What is the tuition for Hira Intensive?

Early Application (by April 28th, 2024): $1,799.00

General Application (by June 2nd, 2024): $1,999.00


Is there financial assistance available?

Yes, no deserving student will be turned away for financial reasons. Financial aid is available to all those who need it. You can apply for financial assistance here! If you have any questions regarding the status of your application, please email admin@myna.org.


What is covered in the cost?

The cost covers lodging for 3 weeks, meals, activities, study materials, tuition, and transportation during the program. Students must cover their own transportation to/from the program.


What is the program for the retreat?

Each day will consist of classes, workshops, communal prayers, meals, recreational time, and reflections. Additionally, there will be field trips spread out through the program. What does a typical day at Hira look like?

A typical Hira day begins in the morning with congregational Fajr prayer, and concludes in the evening with Isha prayer. Classes will begin after breakfast in the morning, and include ample break time, question and answer time, and designated review time for students.


Where will the 2024 retreat be held?

The 2024 Hira Intensive will be held in Flint, Michigan, at the Insight Institute of Neuroscience and Neurosurgery (IINN) campus with one wing reserved exclusively for MYNA's programming. Students will have reserved times to access a full gym and swimming pool, along with necessary amenities like laundry machines.


Is the program gender separated?

Brothers and sisters will have separate living arrangements. Classes and other activities will generally have separate seating in the same room, but some activities may be gender-specific. Our students are taught and expected to uphold Islamic values when it comes to interaction with the opposite gender.


What meals will be served?

All food served will be 100% Halal and Zabiha, ordered from trusted local community members and restaurants. We are working on providing high quality healthy food, nourishing to the body, inshaAllah.

Do Residential Advisors receive compensation?

Accepted Residential Advisors are offered a stipend of $500 as compensation for their time. They also fully participate in the program at no cost, and gain invaluable experience in mentoring youth!


Once I apply, when will I know if I have been accepted? By when do I need to confirm my attendance?

After submitting a full application, you will hear back from our Admissions Director within 2-3 weeks. They may choose to follow up with a short call to supplement any information not provided in your application. Shortly after, they will follow up with an email confirming your attendance with a registration form. You must complete this before May 26, 2024.


How many students are typically accepted into the program?

We aim to create a cohort size of 35-40 students.
