What You NEED to do this Summer

Summer can be a difficult season for some of us Muslims. As a Muslim girl, I gotta admit, I do get hot outside when Texas weather decides to exceed 100 degrees. Finding modest swim suits is only kind-of-sort-of impossible and to be completely honest I haven’t found any (if you have please, please, please let me know, your girl is so desperate). But this summer, I have found myself something to indulge in that is spiritual, educational, and can be done in the comfort of your air conditioned bedroom. Here’s the catch; it’s reading a book.

I know, I know, I know, but before you get all judgey and weird about it, I also am not the most avid reader (avid means enthusiastic, don’t worry I gotchu) .  One night, I had found myself suddenly being drawn to this book when I started to feel like I needed to aid my spirituality with something more. After almost immediately finding it on my mom’s desk, I was and am convinced that Allah has drawn me towards this book and this article is Allah trying to draw you too.

Titled “Secrets of Divine Love” and written by A. Helwa, this book encompasses the deep, infinite, love that Allah has for each one of us. It acts like a detailed, assuring, kind, and loving guide for those whose hearts desire something more. It also includes simple, exercises with the goal of strengthening the connection between us and our Creator. If one is like a sponge, this book acts like water. Whenever I open this book, I try to savor each and every single page. This intricate, absolutely beautiful piece of literature is beyond powerful and it is guaranteed to change your life. If there’s anything you want to accomplish this summer, it must be reading this book.
